Rhythm and Blues

Formidable Rhythm and Blues (also known as Rhythm And Blues Formidable) was a French series launched by Barclay in 1966. As a distributor for different labels such as Atlantic, Atco, Stax, and others, this label played a significant role in promoting the vibrant genre of rhythm and blues. Over the years, some of these remarkable compilations were reissued through WEA Filipacchi Music in their renowned series.

Taste was a trio formed in 1966 by Irish guitarist and songwriter Rory Gallagher, along with Eric Kitteringham on bass and Norman Damery on drums. In 1968, Richard McCracken replaced Eric Kitteringham and John Wilson replaced Norman Damery. Together, they recorded three studio albums and two live albums, including the memorable "Live at the Isle of Wight" in 1970.
Unfortunately, Taste disbanded in the same year, but this marked the beginning of Rory Gallagher's successful career as a solo artist. Known for his exceptional guitar skills and songwriting abilities, Gallagher went on to become a renowned musician in his own right.

Across eleven live tracks Taste show their instrumental abilities and leader Rory Gallagher demonstrates strong songwriting, apparent at even this early stage of his career. The tracks have been specially selected to complement the live Taste material already released. The majority of the songs were recorded for John Peel in 1968 and 1969 with two additional songs recorded for German TV at the Bilsen Jazz Festival.
