Ninja Tune

Ninja Tune is an independent record label based in London, England. Established in 1990 by the duo known as Coldcut, Ninja Tune was created as a platform to release underground music free from the constraints of major labels. Inspired by a visit to Japan, Coldcut sought to pioneer the emerging hip-hop/electro scene of the eighties.

The label's success can be attributed to its constantly growing roster of diverse artists and their innovative approach to music and multimedia. With the combined expertise of Black and More, along with the graphic vision of Openmind and sound business practices, Ninja Tune has become known for producing quality music while providing unparalleled support to its artists.

Notable releases include DJ Food's 'Jazz Brakes' series, which showcased instrumental hip-hop cuts produced by Coldcut. Through their dedication to musical excellence and artist empowerment, Ninja Tune has solidified its position as a leading force in the independent music industry.

J Swinscoe, the founder of The Cinematic Orchestra, began his musical journey in 1990 with a group called Crabladder. After releasing a single on his own label, Power Tool, he gained recognition as a DJ on Heart FM. In 1999, their debut album Motion garnered critical acclaim and led to an invitation to perform at the Director's Guild Awards ceremony for Stanley Kubrick. They were later commissioned to create a live score for Man with a Movie Camera and released it as an album. Their discography also includes Ma Fleur and the soundtrack for The Crimson Wing: Mystery of the Flamingos. In 2010, they established their independent label Motion Audio.

New expanded edition of&nbsp;Every Day&nbsp;featuring four bonus tracks from the time, some not released on vinyl before, the Cinematic Orchestra's third full-length release, which proved that occasionally it's not what you do that really counts, but whom you do it with. By enlisting new recruits to his Orchestra, Jason Swinscoe sloughed the derivative mannerisms that marred 1999's Motion and 2000's Remixes 1998-2000— where those two albums sounded stiff and crippled by the weight of overt influence,&nbsp;Every Day&nbsp;is both stately and loose. And by ditching his Miles Davis/Gil Evans stance and embracing freer jazz elements, Swinscoe has finally achieved a much-needed spaciousness and grandeur in his music.
