Demon is a UK 80s New Wave label that was founded by Elvis Costello, Andrew Lauder, and the company behind the label in 1980. In 1998, the label was acquired by Music Collection International and merged with its Westside Records operation. Today, Demon forms part of the Demon Music Group Ltd.

The Creation is a UK freakbeat and garage rock group that was formed in 1966. Although they disbanded in 1968, they re-formed in the mid-'80s to continue their musical journey. Known for their unique sound and energetic performances, The Creation has left an indelible mark on the music industry.

With influences from bands like *The Attack*, *Fleur De Lys*, and *The Action*, The Creation created a distinct style that captivated audiences. Their music can be described as a fusion of psychedelic rock, R&B, and pop, making them pioneers of the genre.

Throughout their career, The Creation shared stages with notable acts such as *The Pretty Things*, *The Music Machine*, and *The Electric Prunes*. Their impact on the music scene extended beyond their time together as a band, inspiring future generations of musicians.

For a band that never achieved much chart success in their native Britain, The Creation is one of the most paradoxically enduring of British combos to emerge in the furiously creative mid-sixties. Their recordings from their 1966-68 heyday are not numerous, but they have become the archetype ‘cult’ band, their music being discovered, loved and admired by successive generations of fans over the last half-century or so. 

The key to The Creation’s longevity lies in their retrospective status as the prime exponents of a musical sub- genre latterly dubbed ‘Freakbeat’ – and for gifting their name for one of the most successful British independent record labels of the eighties and nineties. And songs like “Making Time”, “Biff Bang Pow” and “Can I Join Your Band” regularly appear on TV drama soundtracks. 

This set includes the band’s 60s recordings, plus (for the first time on a “Best Of” compilation) highlights from their studio reunions in 1987 and 1996, along with full annotation by Alan Robinson. With photos from his own archive, the design and artwork are by sleeve design-legend Phil Smee.
