Chiswick

Chiswick is a sublabel and forerunner of Ace Records, established in 1975 by Ted Carroll and Roger Armstrong. Originating from a second-hand 45 records market stall in London, they were later joined by record enthusiast Trevor Churchill. In the late 70s, Chiswick became known for releasing music by "pub rock" bands. Today, it is recognized as the punk, power pop, and rock label within the Ace Records family.

The Damned is an English punk band formed in 1976 by Dave Vanian (vocals), Brian James (guitar), Captain Sensible (bass then guitar), and Rat Scabies (drums). They were the first British punk band to release a single in 1976. In the 1980s, they transitioned to a more psychedelic and gothic sound.

Originally released in 1980, The Black Album represented a significant expansion of their sound and style. When The Black Album came out in 1980 it was an extraordinary leap forward for The Damned. Yes it contained 'punk' tracks such as 'Hit Or Miss', 'Drinking About My Baby' and 'Sick Of This And That', but it also strayed into psychedelia with 'Silly Kids Games' and especially the mighty 'Curtain Call'. Punk? Psychedelia? Goth? Who cares what category this album falls into, the only one that matters is Masterpiece!
