Along with a few other Twin Cities chart toppers, The Gestures' "Run, Run, Run" became a national hit and even earned a spot on Kaye's legendary Nuggets compilation in 1972. In California, the Gestures were especially well-received, maybe because "Run, Run, Run" had the lightness, the hook, and infectious drive of the California surf and car band hits. Record World's hot picks column called it a surf-like sound that should endear them to teens. The slice is a hard-driving ditty. Cash Box said the Gestures bow was a hard-rock- ing, Liverpool-sounding affair... powerhouse instrumental support on this haunting entry.
