Rhino

Rhino Records, also known as Rhino, is a renowned music label that was established in 1973 by Richard Foos. Starting as a record store in Westwood California, Rhino quickly gained recognition with its first successful release "Go To Rhino Records" by Wild Man Fischer in 1975. The label's early logo featured "Rocky the Rhino" and focused on novelty, surf, local new wave bands, and reissues of out-of-print records from other labels.

Under the guidance of Bill Inglot for production, Ken Perry for mastering, and A&R team Gary Stewart and James Austin, Rhino expanded its catalog to include a wide range of reissues by the mid-1980s. The label underwent a logo redesign during this time period to simply "Rhino". In 1984, Rhino released its first CD and became known for manufacturing high-quality CDs made by Sanyo (1984-85) and various manufacturers from Japan or Switzerland thereafter.

In 1985, Rhino entered into a distribution deal with Capitol Records which lasted until 1992. This partnership allowed access to Capitol's back catalog and led to the release of reissues of old Capitol albums. Additionally, EMI and Rhino acquired the Roulette family of labels in 1989. As their deal with Capitol came to an end in 1992, Time-Warner offered an opportunity for growth. Half of the label was sold to Time-Warner

The Sisters of Mercy is a rock band formed in Leeds, UK, in 1980. The band was founded by singer Andrew Eldritch and guitarist Gary Marx, with Eldritch being the only surviving member of the original line-up. Throughout their career, The Sisters of Mercy have been known for their diverse sound on each of their three studio albums. They have been labeled as 'goth', 'keyboards', and 'American rock' by the media. However, they firmly deny any association with goth and consider themselves primarily a rock band.

Influenced by artists such as Leonard Cohen, The Stooges, Suicide, and Motörhead, The Sisters of Mercy became an integral part of the '80s goth music scene. Despite this association, they continue to perform live shows around the world today. Their performances typically include a mix of new songs, re-worked classics from their discography, and covers.

With their enduring presence in Europe's music scene and dedication to delivering captivating live performances filled with a blend of old favorites and fresh material, The Sisters of Mercy remain an influential force in rock music.

1985's First and Last and Always remains unequalled in the genre Goth, permanently granted top place on a pedestal from which it cannot be toppled. From the opening claustrophobia of Black Planet to the melancholy No Time to Cry, Eldritch continually assured listeners that "everything's gonna be alright". Continuing with the bass-driven guitar gem Possession and the closing Some Kind of Stranger, an untouchable epic that, clocking in at over seven minutes, is the best of its kind. Some Kind of Stranger became a 'love song' for the dressed in black crowd. Copied to death, its brilliance has never been replicated.

CD - Remastered from the multitracks for the first time, it now sounds better than ever before and is augmented by six tracks, all non-album B sides plus Some Kind of Stranger (Early) a previously unissued track from the album sessions, all housed in a foldout digipack sleeve with new liner notes.
