Demon is a UK 80s New Wave label that was founded by Elvis Costello, Andrew Lauder, and the company behind the label in 1980. In 1998, the label was acquired by Music Collection International and merged with its Westside Records operation. Today, Demon forms part of the Demon Music Group Ltd.

The Yardbirds are an iconic British rock band, formed in London in 1963. They are noted for their exploration of blues, rhythm and blues, and rock music. The group consisted of Keith Relf on vocals and harmonica, Paul Samwell-Smith on bass, Chris Dreja on rhythm guitar and later bass when Samwell-Smith left the band, and Jim McCarty on drums. A defining characteristic of the band was its revolving lineup of legendary lead guitarists.

The Yardbirds' innovative approach to music pushed the boundaries of rock 'n' roll, notably influencing the development of hard rock and psychedelic rock genres. Their high-energy performances popularized the "rave-up" style, where a song builds in tempo and intensity.

In 1992, The Yardbirds were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as performers. Their legacy continues to inspire countless musicians worldwide. Under the leadership of Jim McCarty with a constantly evolving lineup, they continue to tour and captivate audiences with their timeless music.

To celebrate 60 years of The Yardbirds, Demon Records is proud to present a new series of 7” vinyl singles, beginning with the classic psychedelic single ‘Happenings Ten Years Time Ago’. In the summer of 1966, Yardbird Paul Samwell-Smith left the group to pursue a career as a record producer – his replacement was studio session guitarist Jimmy Page. With Page in the fold, the band began to explore heavier, more progressive sounds. ‘Happenings Ten Years Time Ago’ is the finest example of this, fully showcasing the dual-lead guitar line up of Jimmy Page and Jeff Beck in "a full- on six-string apocalypse“. Whilst the single was not a commercial success at the time of release, it has since been recognised for it’s pioneering sound and appears at number three on Record Collector’s list of the ‘100 Greatest Psychedelic Records’. It’s lasting influence has been far reaching, inspiring artists including Jimi Hendrix, Syd Barrett, The Stooges, Sparks, Todd Rundgren, and Mudhoney. The B-side features ‘Psycho Daisies’, another dose of the Yardbirds firing on all cylinders with explosive bursts of guitar. Clocking in at just under two minutes, ‘Psycho Daisies’ is a proto-punk gem and would be the final appearance of Jeff Beck on record with the Yardbirds. This new reissue has been mastered by Phil Kinrade and cut by Jasper Ward at AIR Mastering. Housed in a heavy-stock card sleeve featuring the rare German issue cover with spot UV detailing.
