Rough Trade is a multinational label that was started by Geoff Travis in 1976 as a London record-shop. It quickly grew into an independent label and distributor, collaborating with notable labels such as 4AD, Factory Records, and One Little Indian. The label's catalogue numbering system for singles/EPs included prefixes like RT### and RTT###CD for different formats. Albums were numbered sequentially as ROUGH### with extensions for different formats.In the early 1990s, Rough Trade faced financial difficulties after expanding into the US market. The US branch was shut down and the German branch ended up in the Zomba Music Group. One Little Indian provided financing and took over the label in the UK, retaining ownership of key releases like A.R. Kane albums. Geoff Travis eventually regained control of Rough Trade around 1999–2000 and re-launched it alongside Tugboat Records.

This Is The Kit is a British folk-rock duo that was founded in 2003 by Kate Stables. The band consists of Kate Stables on vocals, guitar, and banjo; Jesse Vernon on violin, guitar, bass, and percussion; Neil Smith on guitar; Rozi Leyden on bass and vocals; and Jamie Whitby-Coles on drums and vocals.

With their unique blend of folk and rock influences, This Is The Kit has captivated audiences with their heartfelt lyrics and soulful melodies. Led by the talented Kate Stables, the band's music is both introspective and uplifting, exploring themes of love, loss, and self-discovery.

Known for their mesmerizing live performances, This Is The Kit has gained a loyal following around the world. Their distinctive sound combines intricate instrumentation with Stables' hauntingly beautiful voice to create an immersive musical experience.

On 19th May 2023 This Is The Kit played a double header at the stunning Minack Theatre in Cornwall, comprising of an afternoon matinee and a night time show. Now for Record Store Day, a live recording of the evening show will be made available, marking the first live album released by This Is The Kit. Featuring tracks from critically acclaimed albums Careful Of Your Keepers, Off Off On and Moonshine Freeze, the album sees the band (including three-piece horn section) on top form, responding to the resplendent surroundings in front of a hugely appreciative audience. About the show, Kate said "Our friend Will who books shows at the excellent Cornish bank in Falmouth had the slightly ambitious idea of booking us at the Minack theatre in Cornwall. It's an amazing open air amphitheatre on the edge of a Cornish cliff face overlooking the sea and so it seemed like a pretty fun idea to do a gig there. And it all resulted in quite an epic day of music in a very epic setting, which we somehow had the foresight to record. And so then we decided that it might be nice to release the recording for record store day!” The album is available on Limited Edition Seagrass Citrus vinyl, from all participating stores on 20th April (Record Store Day).
