Outta Sight

Outta Sight is a UK based label that was originally launched in January 2007 as a Castle Music imprint, part of Sanctuary Records Group Ltd. It is now independently controlled and has become a limited company with Glenn Gunton and Tim Brown as directors. Although the limited company appears to have dissolved in 2015, Outta Sight continues to deliver a monthly collection of rare soul on vinyl and CD.

The label's Vinyl Series includes three different categories: OSV (Outta Sight Northern Soul), RSV (Outta Sight Rhythm & Soul), and MSV (Outta Sight Modern Soul). Each category has its own release schedule, with three 7-inch singles per month for OSV and RSV, and three per quarter for MSV. Every package is carefully compiled and packaged with the utmost reverence for this important archive.

When the Wheel opened it's doors to Manchester's new wave Modernists in September 1963 - with DJ Roger Eagle behind the decks - the course of rare soul music in the UK was set to change. Eagle was a rare breed R&amp;B pioneer and soul preacher who captured the imagination of the North's musical youth and introduced them to the obscure, unheard, exotic and intoxicating world of black American dance music. Here, Outta Sight present a soundbite spanning the clubs 8 year reign, and both of its venues. Side A represents the Wheel's R&amp;B roots cemented in Brazennoise Street, while Side B documents the birth of Northern Soul, forever synonymous with Whitworth Street. It features John Lee Hooker, James Brown, Taj Mahal, Booker T, Howlin' Wolf and more.
