Warehouse find at Compact Mansions! Virna Lindt’s debut single Attention Stockholm, recorded in a series of ‘live takes’, as in the movies, became the first release on Tot Taylor’s audacious The Compact Organization record label in 1981. Kicking against Xerox’d post-punk society Compact went full on nouvelle vague with Virna’s ‘secret agent’ soundtrack themes and mainly spoken lyrics. The album Shiver followed in 1983 with two more indie hits Young & Hip and Intelligence until the late-90s sleeper Underwater Boy hit college-radio in the US and a remixed second album Play/Record appeared.
