Rough Trade is a multinational label that was started by Geoff Travis in 1976 as a London record-shop. It quickly grew into an independent label and distributor, collaborating with notable labels such as 4AD, Factory Records, and One Little Indian. The label's catalogue numbering system for singles/EPs included prefixes like RT### and RTT###CD for different formats. Albums were numbered sequentially as ROUGH### with extensions for different formats.In the early 1990s, Rough Trade faced financial difficulties after expanding into the US market. The US branch was shut down and the German branch ended up in the Zomba Music Group. One Little Indian provided financing and took over the label in the UK, retaining ownership of key releases like A.R. Kane albums. Geoff Travis eventually regained control of Rough Trade around 1999–2000 and re-launched it alongside Tugboat Records.

Warpaint is an American alternative rock band hailing from Los Angeles, California. Formed in 2004, the band consists of Emily Kokal on vocals and guitar, Theresa Wayman on guitar and vocals, Jenny Lee Lindberg on bass and backing vocals, and Stella Mozgawa on drums. With their unique blend of ethereal melodies and intricate instrumentation, Warpaint has captivated audiences worldwide. Their music is a testament to their artistic prowess and has solidified their place as one of the most influential bands in the alternative rock genre.

On the completion of the recording of The Fool, Andrew Weatherall was given access to the album's master tapes to work on mixes for the finished record. The track Baby, along with Warpaint's iconic single Undertow, were both mixed by the Guv'nor and appeared on the finished album that was released in 2010. For the first time ever, this Record Store Day edition brings together all the mixes Weatherall created while working on the project, including a never released before, finished version of Jubilee. “I remember that one of the main reasons why we wanted Andrew Weatherall to mix the Warpaint album was because we loved his brilliant work on the Primal Scream remix of Higher Than The Sun. I know that we discussed this particular track with Emily and she knew it of course and also loved it.
