Altered Images is a post-punk group that was formed in Glasgow in 1979. The original lineup consisted of Clare Grogan on vocals, Tony McDaid on guitar, John McElhone on bass, Gerard "Caesar" McInulty on guitar, and Michael "Tich" Anderson on drums. In 1981, McInulty left the band to form The Wake and was replaced by Jim McKinven. Influenced by producers like Martin Rushent and Mike Chapman, Altered Images soon embraced synthpop stylings. Although they split in 1983 (with Anderson and McKinven having already departed the previous year), Clare continued her acting career under the name CP Grogan while also performing with the band. Today, Altered Images continues to create music and perform live shows with a predominantly female lineup.
