Current 93 is a group led by David Tibet with an ever-changing lineup of musicians. They began in 1982 and have since released numerous LPs, constantly evolving their style with each record. Initially known for their noisy soundscapes, they later transitioned to a more "apocalyptic folk" sound featuring acoustic guitars and atonal vocals. Permanent members include Michael Cashmore and Steven Stapleton.
In 1984, Current 93 released a ritualistic single titled "LAShTAL." This marked the beginning of their journey in the music industry. Over the years, they have collaborated with various artists and explored different musical genres, creating a unique and diverse discography.
With influences ranging from folk to experimental music, Current 93's compositions are characterized by haunting melodies, thought-provoking lyrics, and atmospheric arrangements. Their ability to constantly reinvent themselves has made them one of the most influential groups in underground music.
