Gina Birch
Gina Birch (born in 1955 in Nottingham, UK) is an English musician, visual artist, photographer and filmmaker. She gained recognition as a founding member of The Raincoats, a feminist punk band formed in 1977 with Ana da Silva. The Raincoats quickly became influential figures in the punk rock scene, recording three albums for Rough Trade that are still regarded as important records of the era. After disbanding in 1984 and reforming in 1994, they continue to perform today and have their own record label.
Aside from her musical career, Gina is also known for her work as a painter and filmmaker. She has directed music videos for notable bands such as The Libertines and New Order. Additionally, she is a mother of two daughters and has fronted the band Dorothy and The Hangovers.
In September 2021, Gina released her first solo single titled "Feminist Song" on Third Man Records to commemorate the opening of their new London location. Her debut solo album "I Play My Bass Loud," recorded by Martin "Youth" Glover from Killing Joke and featuring Thurston Moore from Sonic Youth, will be released by Third Man Records in February 2023.
