James Brandon Lewis

James Brandon Lewis is a US saxophonist and composer, born in 1983 in Buffalo. He is currently based in New York. Lewis received music lessons from Carol McLaughlin and studied at the Buffalo Academy for the Visual and Performing Arts. He furthered his studies at Howard University before attending CalArts, where he had the opportunity to study with renowned musicians Charlie Haden and Wadada Leo Smith.

In 2010, Lewis obtained his Master of Fine Arts degree and has since been making waves in the music industry. His talent has led him to collaborate with esteemed artists such as Dave Douglas, Joshua Redman, Aruán Ortiz, Chad Taylor, Brad Jones, Hank Roberts, Tony Malaby, and Marilyn Crispell.
