John Densmore

John Densmore is an American drummer, songwriter, actor, and writer. He was born on 1 December 1944 in Los Angeles, California, USA. Best known as the drummer of The Doors from their beginning in 1964 until the end in 1973. Densmore has had a diverse career, staying active in the rock scene till the 1980s when he entered the world of dance. He has also acted on stage, TV, and film and released several books about his time in The Doors and beyond.

In addition to his musical and acting endeavors, Densmore started a new band called Tribaljazz who released their first album in 2006. His contributions to music have been recognized with numerous accolades including induction into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame in 1993 and receiving a star on the Hollywood Walk Of Fame in 2007.

Densmore's impact extends beyond awards and recognition. In honor of The Doors' legacy, he and his bandmates were saluted by the City of Los Angeles multiple times. Notably, they proclaimed "Day of the Doors" on January 4th to commemorate the group's self-titled album release anniversary in Venice Beach in 2017. A year later, honorary street signs were unveiled at Densmore Avenue and Morrison Street junction in Encino as a tribute to John Densmore's contribution to music.
