Ye (born Kanye Omari West on June 8, 1977) is an American rapper, singer, songwriter, record producer, and fashion designer. With a career marked by dramatic change and diverse influences, he has made a significant impact in the music industry. Beyond his musical achievements, Ye has also found success in the world of fashion.
In recent years, however, Ye has faced controversy due to his public statements. In 2022, he faced widespread condemnation and lost numerous sponsors and partnerships after making a series of offensive remarks. These remarks included antisemitic statements that resulted in collaborations with Adidas, Gap, and Balenciaga being terminated.
Furthermore, in November 2022 Ye announced his intention to run for president in 2024. This decision drew criticism as he appeared publicly with Nick Fuentes—a known white supremacist—and later expressed admiration for Adolf Hitler while denying the Holocaust. He even identified himself as a Nazi—an ideology associated with hate and discrimination.
