Son House

Son House was an American blues singer and guitarist, born on March 21, 1902 in Riverton, Mississippi. He is known for pioneering an innovative style of blues music that featured strong, repetitive rhythms played with the aid of slide guitar. His singing often incorporated elements of southern gospel and spiritual music.

Throughout his career, Son House influenced many other artists with his unique sound. Some similar performers include *Lightnin' Hopkins*, *Blind Willie Johnson*, *Skip James*, *Charley Patton*, *Blind Willie McTell*, and *Mississippi John Hurt*.

Son House's contribution to the blues genre cannot be overstated. His powerful vocals and distinctive guitar playing continue to inspire musicians today. He passed away on October 19, 1988 in Detroit, Michigan.
