The Adverts

The Adverts were an English punk band formed in 1976. They achieved chart success in the UK with their single "Gary Gilmore's Eyes" reaching No. 18 on the UK Singles Chart. Bassist Gaye Advert was hailed as the first female punk star by The Virgin Encyclopedia of 70s Music.

Known for their energetic and rebellious sound, The Adverts played a significant role in shaping the punk movement of the late 1970s. Their music captured the raw essence of punk, delivering powerful lyrics and intense performances that resonated with fans.
