The Boomtown Rats

The Boomtown Rats are an Irish rock band that was formed in 1975 in Dun Laoghaire, Ireland. Originally known as The Nightlife Thugs, they changed their name to The Boomtown Rats during their first gig on October 31st, 1975. The band's original lineup consisted of Bob Geldof (vocals), Garry Roberts (lead guitar), Johnnie Fingers (keyboard), Pete Briquette (bass), Gerry Cott (rhythm guitar), and Simon Crowe (drums).

Throughout their career, The Boomtown Rats recorded six studio albums and achieved success with a number of hit singles. In 1981, Gerry Cott left the band but they continued to perform together until after the historic Live Aid concert in 1985, which was organized by Bob Geldof.

In 2013, The Boomtown Rats reunited with original members Bob Geldof, Garry Roberts, Pete Briquette, and Simon Crowe. They were joined by Alan Dunn and Darren Beale to complete the current lineup.
