What started in 1989 as an outlet for Laura Ballance and Mac McCaughan's own band Superchunk and music created by their friends, has over the years expanded to include artists from around the world - like Caribou, Waxahatchee, Neutral Milk Hotel and The Magnetic Fields - with many records reaching the top of the music charts.
