Amon Amarth is a Swedish band that started out as a grindcore band in 1989. Originally named *Scum*, the band underwent several changes before settling on their current lineup and name. With members Olavi Mikkonen, Ted Lundström, Anders Hansson, Nico Mehra, and Johan Hegg, Amon Amarth's musical style shifted towards Death/Viking Metal.

Their name, taken from Tolkien's "Lord of the Rings" trilogy, means the mighty mountain of doom. Drawing inspiration from Norse mythology and Viking history, Amon Amarth has become known for their powerful and epic sound.

Similar to artists such as *Arch Enemy*, *Finntroll*, and *Dark Tranquillity*, Amon Amarth continues to captivate audiences with their intense live performances and lyrical storytelling. Their unique blend of melodic death metal and Viking themes sets them apart in the music industry.

Amon Amarth's ninth full-length album, Deceiver of the Gods. The album was recorded at Backstage Studios in Derbyshire, UK between January and March 2013. Acclaimed producer Andy Sneap (Opeth, Megadeth, Killswitch Engage) produced, mixed, and mastered Deceiver of the Gods. Cover art was, once again, completed by Tom Thiel, and is revealed across three panels, the center of which is the cover of the album. Fans will also recognize a guest appearance on this album: Messiah Marcolin (ex-Candlemass) provides guest vocals for the eighth song, Hel.
