Charles Lloyd, an Afro-American jazz saxophonist and multi-instrumentalist, was born on 15 March 1938 in Memphis, Tennessee. Currently residing in Santa Barbara, California, he is renowned for his exceptional skills on the saxophone as well as his proficiency in playing flute, piano, tárogató and percussion.

Lloyd's musical talent has earned him a place among some of the most influential artists in the industry. His unique style and innovative approach to jazz have captivated audiences worldwide. With a career spanning several decades, he has collaborated with esteemed performers such as *Kenny Wheeler*, *Bobo Stenson Trio*, *Jason Moran*, *Paul Bley*, *Carla Bley*, *Paul Motian*, *Charlie Haden*, *Joe Lovano* and many more.

Whether performing solo or with a group, Charles Lloyd continues to push boundaries and redefine the genre of jazz. His contributions to music have solidified his status as an iconic figure within the industry.

This album features guitarist Gábor Szábo, Ron Carter and drummer Pete La Roca captured live in 1965 at Judson Hall and Slugs in New York City. The extensive booklet includes essays and rare photos.
