Frank Zappa was an American composer, lyricist, songwriter, guitarist, vocalist, bandleader, conductor, producer, and filmmaker. Born on December 21, 1940, in Baltimore, Maryland and passed away on December 4, 1993, in Los Angeles, California. Zappa's music combined elements of contemporary classical figures such as Igor Stravinsky and Karlheinz Stockhausen with a love for doo-wop and rock &amp; roll. He was known for his satirical lyrics and wicked sense of humour that delighted fans even when pushing the boundaries of taste.Zappa was a prolific record maker who produced massive amounts of music on his own labels including Bizarre Records, Straight Records, and Barking Pumpkin Records. After unhappy associations with Warner Bros. Records and MGM in the past, he gained control over his old albums in the 80s and began reissuing them through Rykodisc. Throughout his career, Zappa stayed at the forefront of technology investing in equipment and home studio facilities to have full control over production.In 1988 he released his official autobiography and embarked on a world tour before being diagnosed with cancer in late 1991 which ended his live performances. His wife Gail became the figurehead of the Zappa Family Trust (ZFT) until her death in 2015. The ZFT continued producing posthumous releases under their children's guidance.

Over-Nite Sensation&nbsp;turns 50 years old. An absolute classic. For some a gateway to Zappa, a place to start along with the following 1974 release&nbsp;Apostrophe(‘).&nbsp;It was also the first album by Zappa to be released in Quadraphonic surround sound. The album signaled a change in musical direction for The Mothers, with Frank handling the bulk of the lead vocals and being the only guitar player.&nbsp;&nbsp;It was a new band, a new sound and eventually the album went gold. Over the years, almost every song on&nbsp;Over-Nite Sensation&nbsp;would go on to become live staples and fan favorites. 50 years on, the album is still one of the highlights of the Zappa catalog and a consistent seller.&nbsp;

To celebrate this iconic album, UMR present a 4CD + 1 Blu-ray Audio&nbsp;Super Deluxe&nbsp;showcasing 88 total tracks with 57 unreleased tracks and mixes. Featuring the 2012 remaster of the original album by Bob Ludwig along with additional unreleased masters, highlights and mix outtakes from the original 1973 sessions&nbsp;mastered by John Polito. Also included are two unreleased live recordings from 1973 showcasing the same band that recorded the album, one&nbsp;from the Hollywood&nbsp;Palladium in Los Angeles and the other recorded at Cobo Hall in Detroit. The Blu-ray contains the album newly re-mixed in Dolby Atmos and 5.1 surround by Karma Auger and Erich Gobel at Studio1LA, Zappa’s original 4-channel Quadraphonic mix (available for the first time since 1973), and the Hi-Res stereo 2012 remaster at 192K24B and 96K24B. The package features unseen photos from the album cover shoot along with liner notes and essays by Mark Smotroff and Vaultmeister Joe Travers.

Along with the 4CD+Blu-ray box, there is a 45rpm 180-gram black audiophile vinyl. The album is cut at 45 rpm from the original analog tape by Chris Bellman at Bernie Grundman Mastering in 2023. Comes with a bonus 24”x12” poster of the complete cover art.
