Glenn Gould was a Canadian pianist known for his eccentric piano technique and personality. He recorded numerous works by composers such as Bach, Mozart, Beethoven, Schoenberg, Sibelius, Bizet, Richard Strauss, and Hindemith. In addition to being a pianist, Gould was also a composer, writer, lecturer, and producer of radio documentaries and television programs.

Some of these alter egos included a British conductor named Sir Nigel Twitt-Thornwaite, a German critic named Dr. Herbert von Hochmeister, and a New York cab driver named Theodore Slutz of Brooklyn Heights.
