Jerry Garcia was a talented musician known for his skills on the guitar, banjo, pedal steel guitar, and vocals. Born on August 1st, 1942 in San Francisco, he began his musical career at the young age of 18. Throughout his life, Jerry played with various bands in the San Francisco area until December 1965 when he joined forces with *a246650* and performed at the first of *a121230*'s Acid Tests.

Renowned for his greatness as both a person and a player, Jerry Garcia's impact on the music industry cannot be measured. As Bob Dylan once said, "There's no way to measure his greatness or magnitude as a person or a player."

It was Jerry Garcia's first album on the Arista label and his first LP using the band name Jerry Garcia Band. It includes only one song that was performed by the Grateful Dead. Keith and Donna Godchaux, who were at the time members of the Garcia Band, contributed to the music.
