Jerry Garcia was a talented musician known for his skills on the guitar, banjo, pedal steel guitar, and vocals. Born on August 1st, 1942 in San Francisco, he began his musical career at the young age of 18. Throughout his life, Jerry played with various bands in the San Francisco area until December 1965 when he joined forces with *a246650* and performed at the first of *a121230*'s Acid Tests.

Renowned for his greatness as both a person and a player, Jerry Garcia's impact on the music industry cannot be measured. As Bob Dylan once said, "There's no way to measure his greatness or magnitude as a person or a player."

Originally released in 1982 Run for the Roses is Jerry Garcia’s 4th and final solo studio album. Produced by Garcia and John Kahn the track list includes several new Garcia/Hunter originals including the title track “Midnight Getaway" plus choice covers of Bob Dylan and The Beatles among others. Run for the Roses features the first appearance by organist Melvin Seals who remained with Garcia for the next 15 years. The album artwork was created by legendary psychedelic visual artist Victor Moscoso.
