John Cale is a Welsh musician, composer, singer, songwriter and record producer. He is best known as a co-founder of the influential band Velvet Underground with Lou Reed. Throughout his career, he has collaborated with various artists and produced debut albums for notable bands such as The Stooges, Patti Smith Group, and Modern Lovers.
Born on March 9th, 1942 in Garnant, Wales, UK, John Cale's musical contributions have left an indelible mark on the industry. His talent spans across multiple roles within the music realm - from composing to singing to producing.
With his involvement in Velvet Underground alongside Lou Reed, John Cale played a pivotal role in shaping the sound of alternative rock. When building songs around another’s words, the results often sound forced, but Cale does a magnificent job of compressing Thomas’s lyricism into neat melodic phrases, themselves just components of a vast harmonic mega-structure scored for the USSR’s Orchestra of Symphonic & Popular Music of Gostelradio.
