Larry Young was an American jazz organist known for his characteristic sound on the Hammond organ. Born on October 7, 1940 in Newark, New Jersey, he developed a unique style by skillfully managing the stops on the organ to create an ethereal and drifting effect. His music simultaneously served as both lead and background, captivating listeners with its mesmerizing tones.

Tragically, Larry Young passed away at the young age of 37 from untreated pneumonia in NYC. Despite his untimely death on March 30, 1978, his musical legacy lives on.
