Phil Collins is a British pop rock musician, songwriter, and actor. Born on January 30, 1951 in Chiswick, London, England, he is best known as a member of Genesis. Initially joining the band as a drummer in 1970, he later became the lead vocalist after Peter Gabriel's departure in 1975. In addition to his work with Genesis, Collins embarked on a successful solo career starting in 1981.
Collins has made significant contributions to the music industry and was even inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2003. With his versatile talents as a drummer, singer, and pianist, he has captivated audiences worldwide with his distinctive sound and heartfelt lyrics.
Aside from his musical achievements, Collins is also recognized for his personal life. He is the father of Simon Collins from his first marriage which ended in 1978. He also has two children named Lily Collins from his second marriage to Jill Tavelman (married in 1984 and divorced in 1994), and Nicholas Collins & Mathew Collins from his third marriage (married in 1999 and divorced in 2008). Furthermore, Phil's brother Clive Collins was a renowned cartoonist and illustrator.
