Sonny Rollins is an American jazz tenor saxophonist, widely recognized as one of the most important and influential jazz musicians. He has worked with greats such as Miles Davis, Thelonious Monk, John Coltrane, Dizzy Gillespie, and Max Roach. In May 2007, he was awarded the prestigious Polar Music Prize. In March 2011, he received the National Medal Of Arts from President Barack Obama.
Born on September 7, 1930 in New York City, Sonny Rollins has made significant contributions to the world of jazz throughout his career. His innovative style and virtuosic playing have earned him a reputation as a true master of his craft.

Freedom Weaver includes an elaborate booklet with rare photos by Ed van der Elsken, Jean-Pierre Leloir, Bob Parent and many others; lead liners by jazz scholar Bob Blumenthal, and new interviews with Rollins himself, Branford Marsalis, James Carter, Joe Lovano, James Brandon Lewis and Peter Brötzmann. Mastered by the legendary mastering engineer Bernie Grundman.
