While writing their punchy new EP Touch The Ground, These sharp, energetic tracks are never about overpowering volume, but a smart interplay of vocalist Harrison Swann’s raps and yelps, and the pugilistic musicianship of guitarist Tom Holmes, bassist George Sullivan and drummer Chloe MacGregor. Talk Show rattled the studio walls in punishing, all-day sessions with music inspired by watching techno sets on Boiler Room, The Beastie Boys and the Chemical Brothers. The results were recorded in freeform sessions in the studio of Joe Goddard and Al Doyle of Hot Chip that Harrison describes as “the most fun I’ve ever had”, and the answer to the question Talk Show set themselves when they pressed record: "how do we make this dance music that sounds fucking massive, but make it on guitars?”. The resulting EP puts the burners underneath the sonics with which Talk Show had started to make their name with and Touch The Ground is the foundation of their new direction, brimming with confidence.
