Legacy

Influential British punk group from west and south London, active between 1976 and 1985. The Clash added catchy sloganistic socio-political lyrics to their brand of garage rock 'n' roll, exploring wider musical horizons than most of their contemporaries. They incorporated reggae, dub, rockabilly, hip hop, funk influences into their music and more.

The US saw the release of "Give 'Em Enough Rope" before their first album to coincide with the band's first transatlantic tour in early 1979. The band's debut LP "The Clash" was soon repackaged with an updated track list and the addition of a free 7" single. A year later they received worldwide acclaim with their classic double album "London Calling".

Inducted into Rock And Roll Hall of Fame in 2003 (Performer), The Clash's classic line-up comprised Joe Strummer (vocals/guitar), Paul Simonon (bass), Mick Jones (guitar) and Nicky "Topper" Headon (drums).

If Music Could Talk is a 1980 interview album with The Clash - Joe Strummer, Mick Jones, Paul Simonon and Topper Headon – in brief conversation with their trusted management rep/fixer/consigliere Kosmo Vinyl. Originally only available as a promotional LP for US-radio ahead of the release of The Clash’s 4th album Sandinista!, If Music Could Talk will be released for the first time as a limited edition double vinyl (180gm) package with new artwork for Record Store Day on 17th July 2021. The cover art is an homage to Nicaraguan rebel leader Augusto César Sandino – the original Sandinista – by artist Kosmo Vinyl who also supplies the liner notes on the back alongside a rare Pennie Smith band photo. If Music Could Talk comprises the band talking about and introducing tracks, and the 10 tracks themselves (using the latest band approved remasters.)
