The Innocence Mission is an American indie rock band that was formed in 1985 in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. The current line-up consists of Karen Peris on vocals, guitar, piano, and organ; Don Peris on guitars, drums, and vocals; and Mike Bitts on bass guitar and vocals. They have been making music for over three decades and have gained a loyal following with their unique sound.

With Karen's mesmerizing vocals accompanied by the beautiful melodies created by Don's guitar work and Mike's solid bass lines, The Innocence Mission has crafted a distinct musical style that sets them apart from other bands in the indie rock genre. Their heartfelt lyrics often explore themes of love, faith, and nature.

Although they experienced a change in their line-up when Steve Brown left the band in 1998 to pursue a career as a chef at Lily's on Main in Ephrata, PA., The Innocence Mission continued to create music that resonates with listeners around the world. Their dedication to their craft is evident in every song they produce.

For listeners of The Innocence Mission, the Lancaster, PA trio are beyond a favorite band, more like a beloved companion, such is the intensity and fragility of their sound and vision, spearheaded by Karen Peris' heartbreaking, breathtaking voice. Those fans include Sufjan Stevens and Sam Beam (Iron &amp; Wine), who have both covered innocence mission songs, and in whose company the trio deserve to be bracketed.

Originally released on CD in 2003 befriended received high praise from NPR, Pitchfork, and many others. Arguably their best work, befriended is a haunting collection of songs that feature the interplay of Don Peris' gorgeously warm and shimmering electric guitars with Karen's transcendently lovely vocals and moving lyrics. Befriended has never available on vinyl in North America until now, and it includes the previously unreleased bonus track "Words of My Brother" and is pressed on Milky White colored vinyl.
