<p>The Isley Brothers are an American R&B/soul group from Cincinnati, Ohio. Formed in the early 1950's, the original group consisted of O’Kelly Isley, Rudolph Isley, Ronald Isley and Vernon Isley (who tragically died in a 1956 automobile accident). They gained popularity with their early hit “Shout!” in 1959. In 1963, they established their own label T-Neck and even had the talented Jimi Hendrix on lead guitar for a while. Signing on to Motown in 1965, they recorded the classic “This Old Heart Of Mine." Leaving Motown in 1968, they relaunched T-Neck and released another hit "It's Your Thing" in 1969. Adding Ernie and Marvin Isley as well as Chris Jasper to their lineup in 1973, they continued to release hits like “Between the Sheets," “Choosey Lover,” or “For the Love Of You” until 1983.</p>
<p>In recognition of their immense contribution to music, The Isley Brothers were rightfully inducted into the Rock And Roll Hall of Fame as performers in 1992.</p>

​originally formed as a gospel quartet in the 1950s, the isley brothers went on to massive success in a decades-spanning career which has seen them produce music in genres from doowop to r&amp;b, funk, soul and rock. reaching their third decade as a musical act in the 1970s, the isley brothers continued to reinvent themselves with line-up changes and new sounds ranging from 1973's hit rock anthem summer breeze to the socially-conscious soul of the title track from their 1976 album 'harvest for the world'. 'harvest for the world' was a landmark release for the isley brothers. while other soul and funk acts responded to the commercial pressure to record disco, the band continued to absorb new influences while steadfastly progressing their sound. first single who lovesyou better became a top 10 r&amp;b smash hit and reached the us pop charts. second single 'harvest for the world' followed suit, in addition to giving the group their first top ten uk hit of the 1970s, re-establishing the isley brothers as an act with an international audience. the album also featured '(at your best) you are love', which became a radio hit in 1976. in 1994, a version of the song performed by aaliyah and produced by r kelly went top 10 pop and r&amp;b and reached the uk top 30.
