Baaba Maal

Baaba Maal is a Senegalese singer, guitarist, and percussionist born on 12 November 1953 in Podor. He learned music from his mother and school's headmaster before studying at the university in Dakar and later at Beaux-Arts in Paris. Baaba sings primarily in Pulaar and is known for promoting the traditions of the Pulaar-speaking peoples along the Senegal River.
