Dimmu Borgir

Dimmu Borgir is a symphonic black metal band hailing from Jessheim, Norway. Formed in 1993 by Shagrath (Stian Thoresen), Erkekjetter Silenoz (Sven Kopperud), and Tjodalv (Ian Åkesson), the band took its name from an Icelandic term meaning "dark castle/fortress." Known for pushing the boundaries of the black metal genre, Dimmu Borgir incorporates extensive keyboard usage and orchestral/symphonic elements into their music.

Since their breakthrough album "Enthrone Darkness Triumphant" in 1997, Dimmu Borgir has risen to become one of the most prominent extreme metal bands worldwide. Despite changes in their lineup over the years, with only Shagrath, Silenoz, and Galder remaining as permanent members since 2009, they continue to captivate audiences with their intense performances.

The current lineup consists of *Shagrath* on vocals, *Silenoz* on guitars, and *Galder* on guitars. For live shows and recordings, they are joined by session musicians such as Daray on drums since 2008, Gerlioz on keyboards since 2010, and an unnamed bassist who joined in 2018.
