Frankie Knuckles

Frankie Knuckles was an American DJ, record producer, and remixer. Born on January 18, 1955 in South Bronx, New York City, he became a prominent figure in the music industry. From 1977 to 1982, Knuckles served as the DJ at the Warehouse nightclub in Chicago. It is widely acknowledged that his unique style of DJing and music selection played a significant role in shaping house music. He was often referred to as "The Godfather of House Music" and received numerous accolades for his contributions including a Grammy Award in 1997 and induction into the Dance Music Hall of Fame in 2005.

Knuckles shared a long-standing friendship with Larry Levan and both were influenced by their experiences at clubs like Loft and the Gallery. Their musical upbringing together contributed to their success in the industry.

In recognition of his impact on house music, Chicago honored Frankie Knuckles by naming a street after him and dedicating a day to celebrate his legacy in 2004.
