Michel Legrand

Michel Legrand (1932-2019) was a highly acclaimed French composer, arranger, conductor, and jazz pianist. He gained recognition for his prolific work in film and television scores, composing memorable songs that left a lasting impact. Notably, he received Academy Award nominations for his scores in "The Umbrellas of Cherbourg" (1964) and "The Young Girls of Rochefort" (1967), winning three Oscars throughout his career. One of his most beloved compositions was the song "The Windmills of Your Mind" from the film "The Thomas Crown Affair" (1968). Michel Legrand's musical talent extended through generations as he was the son of Marcelle Der Mikaëlian, brother to Christiane Legrand, and uncle to Victoria Legrand.
