The Platters

The Platters were a USA vocal group formed in Los Angeles in 1952. They quickly became one of the most successful vocal groups of the early rock and roll era. The group went through several personnel changes, but their most successful lineup included lead tenor Tony Williams, David Lynch, Paul Robi, Herb Reed, and Zola Taylor. With an impressive 40 charting singles on the Billboard Hot 100 between 1955 and 1967, including four number-one hits, The Platters solidified their place as one of the first African-American groups to be accepted as a major chart group. They were managed by Ralph Bass initially and later by songwriter Buck Ram.

Known for their smooth harmonies and soulful sound, The Platters captivated audiences worldwide with their timeless music. Their unique blend of doo-wop, R&B, and pop resonated with listeners from all walks of life.
