Peaceville is an English label founded by Paul Halmshaw, also known as Hammy, in 1987. The label primarily focuses on metal music and has gained a reputation for its high-quality releases. In 2000, Peaceville was sold to Snapper Music but continues to thrive under their ownership.

Throughout its history, Peaceville has used various catalog number formats to distinguish different types of releases. From 1987 to 1995, the label used "VILE ### T" for 12-inch singles, maxis, and EPs; "VILE ###" for LPs; and "VILE ### P" for picture LPs. From 1987 to 2002, CD releases were labeled as "CDVILE### / VILE ### CD," while MCDs/singles/EPs were labeled as "CDMVILE### / VILE ### TCD." Limited CDs were marked with "CDXVILE###."

In later years, Peaceville introduced new catalog number formats such as "CC#" for the Collectors Club series of 7-inch records in 1993-1994. Cradle of Filth is a dark/extreme metal band from Suffolk, UK. Founded in 1991, they are known for their unique blend of death, black, gothic and symphonic metal. Influenced by Gothic literature, poetry, mythology and horror films, their music defies easy classification. Fronted by Dani Filth since the beginning, the band has seen several line-up changes over the years. With their current members including Marthus on drums and keyboard, Daniel Firth on bass, Ashok on guitar and Donny Burbage and Zoe Marie Federoff providing additional guitar and keyboard/vocal support respectively.
