Peaceville is an English label founded by Paul Halmshaw, also known as Hammy, in 1987. The label primarily focuses on metal music and has gained a reputation for its high-quality releases. In 2000, Peaceville was sold to Snapper Music but continues to thrive under their ownership.

Throughout its history, Peaceville has used various catalog number formats to distinguish different types of releases. From 1987 to 1995, the label used "VILE ### T" for 12-inch singles, maxis, and EPs; "VILE ###" for LPs; and "VILE ### P" for picture LPs. From 1987 to 2002, CD releases were labeled as "CDVILE### / VILE ### CD," while MCDs/singles/EPs were labeled as "CDMVILE### / VILE ### TCD." Limited CDs were marked with "CDXVILE###."

In later years, Peaceville introduced new catalog number formats such as "CC#" for the Collectors Club series of 7-inch records in 1993-1994. Darkthrone started as a death metal group, but having released ‘Soulside Journey’ they decided to abandon the technical death metal style and transformed into a black metal band. The band’s sound has diversified over their career to include elements of traditional heavy metal, thrash, doom, death and speed metal, as well as crust punk. They have not played live since 1991 and since 1993 Darkthrone has been a duo consisting of Fenriz (Gylve Nagell) and Nocturno Culto (Ted Skjellum).

An eclectic mix of free-spirited 80's fuelled blackened heavy metal, all executed in Darkthrone's trademark raw and organic style, 2016's 'Arctic Thunder' was recorded & produced by the band themselves, with the sessions conducted at Darkthrone's old rehearsal unit "The Bomb Shelter", which they had originally used between 1988-1990. With themes based around hate, contempt, and the inner mind & soul, and with the notable presence of Nocturno Culto on vocal duties across all songs for the first time in recent years, 'Arctic Thunder' retains a grim atmosphere, with a healthy dose of raw black metal inspired riffing permeating the album's 8 tracks. Mastering was again handled by Jack Control at Enormous Door. This mid-price CD edition of 'Arctic Thunder' will be presented in a jewel case packaging complete with a 12-page booklet and OBI card.
