Jethro Tull is a Grammy Award winning British rock group formed in 1967-1968. Their music is characterized by the unique vocal style and lead flute work of front man Ian Anderson. Initially playing blues rock with an experimental flavor, the band has incorporated elements of classical, folk, jazz, and art rock over the years.
With their distinctive sound and innovative approach to music, Jethro Tull has captivated audiences worldwide. Led by the talented Ian Anderson, their fusion of genres such as blues rock, classical, folk, jazz, and art rock sets them apart from other bands.
The band's journey began in the late 1960s and they quickly gained recognition for their exceptional musicianship and groundbreaking compositions. Their incorporation of unconventional instruments like the flute added a unique dimension to their sound.

The roots of Chrysalis stretch back to a tiny flat in West London in 1967, when former university social secretaries, Chris Wright and Terry Ellis, linked their flair for managing and booking bands to form the Ellis Wright Agency. After trying to release their bands' records via other companies, they decided to start their own label.

In 1968, they signed a licensing deal with Island Records with the proviso that if their acts achieved an agreed number of hits, they would be awarded a label of their own. Within a year, this tally was reached and Chrysalis Records was born.

Over the years, Chrysalis went through various ownership changes. In 1985, Chris Wright bought out Terry Ellis and later sold the label to EMI in 1991. EMI was then acquired by Universal Music Group in 2012 before selling the Parlophone Label Group (including Chrysalis) to Warner Music Group in 2013.

The Broadsword and the Beast is the 14th studio album by Jethro Tull, originally released on 10 April 1982 and according to Ian Anderson in the liner notes of the remastered CD, contains some of Jethro Tull’s best music. This album's masterful storytelling, accompanied by Ian Anderson's unmistakable flute melodies, garnered critical acclaim and has become a fan favourite over the years. The album mixes electronic sound, provided by Peter-John Vettese (a characteristic that would be explored further on the next album Under Wraps) with acoustic instruments. The Broadsword and the Beast is a cross between the synthesiser sound of the 1980s and the folk-influenced style that Tull had in the previous decade. This CD features 17 tracks which includes Steven Wilson remixes of original album, associated recordings and a 28-page booklet.
