John Scofield is a Grammy Award winning American jazz guitarist and composer. Born on December 26th, 1951 in Dayton, Ohio, he has an impressive musical career. He has recorded and played with renowned artists such as Gerry Mulligan and Chet Baker. John was also a member of The Billy Cobham / George Duke Band for two years and recorded with Charles Mingus. He joined the Gary Burton Quartet before touring and recording with Miles Davis.

In addition to his musical accomplishments, John Scofield is happily married to Susan Scofield since 1978. They are proud parents of Jean Scofield and Evan Scofield (1987-2013).

ECM Records, also known as "The Creative Label," is a German independent label that was co-founded by producer Manfred Eicher, Manfred Scheffner, and Karl Egger in Munich (Pasing) in 1969. With the label code LC 2516 / LC 02516, ECM stands for Edition of Contemporary Music and focuses on jazz and Western classical music. And jazz standards including "Stairway to the Stars" and "Ray's Idea" rub shoulders with seven Scofield originals that are variously swing, funk and folk infected.
