My Dying Bride is a British doom band that was formed in 1990. Originally starting out as a slower-than-usual death metal act, the band quickly became known for their unique blend of doom metal, incorporating elements of death and black metal. Their first recording, "Towards The Sinister," led to their debut EP "Symphonaire Infernus Et Spera Empyrium" and their first full-length album "As the Flower Withers." The success of these releases paved the way for further experimentation with different musical styles on albums like "Turn Loose The Swans" and "The Angel And The Dark River."

Despite achieving commercial success, My Dying Bride never stopped pushing boundaries and exploring new sounds. This can be heard on albums like "34.788%...Complete," which showcased their willingness to innovate within their own original style. Over the years, they have influenced many other bands and even spawned a subgenre.

The band has seen some lineup changes throughout its history, including replacements due to pregnancy and departures. However, this has not hindered their ability to create powerful music. With Calvin Robertshaw rejoining the band after 15 years and Shaun Macgowan stepping in as a replacement member, My Dying Bride continues to captivate audiences with their distinctive sound.

Peaceville is an English label founded by Paul Halmshaw, also known as Hammy, in 1987. The label primarily focuses on metal music and has gained a reputation for its high-quality releases. In 2000, Peaceville was sold to Snapper Music but continues to thrive under their ownership.

Throughout its history, Peaceville has used various catalog number formats to distinguish different types of releases. From 1987 to 1995, the label used "VILE ### T" for 12-inch singles, maxis, and EPs; "VILE ###" for LPs; and "VILE ### P" for picture LPs. From 1987 to 2002, CD releases were labeled as "CDVILE### / VILE ### CD," while MCDs/singles/EPs were labeled as "CDMVILE### / VILE ### TCD." Limited CDs were marked with "CDXVILE###."

In later years, Peaceville introduced new catalog number formats such as "CC#" for the Collectors Club series of 7-inch records in 1993-1994. THE CLASSIC 1993 EP FROM THE UK DOOM LEGENDS - PRESENTED ON 12" VINYL My Dying Bride are undisputed legends of the UK metal and doom scenes, having existed for over 25 years, with a consistent string of releases - both as originators and innovators - helping to shape the extreme metal scene since the early 90's, culminating in tours with acts such as Iron Maiden and Dio. 'The Thrash of Naked Limbs' came amidst an intensely creative period for the band in their formative years. The EP arrived swiftly on the back of their debut album, 'As the Flower Withers', and helped solidify My Dying Bride's reputation as firm upcoming leaders of the UK gothic doom/death metal scene alongside countrymen Paradise Lost. With the ongoing use of violin to assist with the unique atmosphere created by My Dying Bride, the title track itself is a creeping doom epic of haunting beauty and savagery in equal measure - a revered motif of the band. The EP also contains the additional songs, 'Le Cerf Malade' and 'Gather Me Up Forever'. 'The Thrash of Naked Limbs' was recorded at the band's long time haunt, Academy Studios, known for its own involvement with groundbreaking UK doom releases for years, and was engineered by Mags, who remains a close production associate of the band to this day. My Dying Bride had recently returned to Academy for the recording of their 2015 opus, 'Feel the Misery'. This edition of 'The Thrash of Naked Limbs' is presented on 12" vinyl and features the original cover artwork created by Aaron Stainthorpe of the band.
