Cherry Red

Cherry Red is a British label that was founded by Iain McNay in 1978. Also known as Cherry Red Records, this label has become associated with the company Music and Media Group. With the label code LC 6730, Cherry Red has made a name for itself in the music industry. It is important to note that this label should not be confused with the US label of the same name.

The Primitives are a British indie pop band formed in 1985 in Coventry. After disbanding in 1992, they reunited in 2009. The band consists of Tracy Spencer on vocals, PJ Court on guitar, Steve Dullaghan and Paul Sampson on bass, and Pete Tweedie and Tig Williams on drums.
Known for their catchy melodies and jangly guitars, The Primitives gained popularity during the late 80s and early 90s with hits like "Crash" and "Way Behind Me." Their unique blend of indie rock and pop sensibilities set them apart from other bands of the era.
With their energetic live performances and infectious hooks, The Primitives continue to captivate audiences today. Their music remains influential within the indie pop genre, making them a must-listen for fans of alternative music.

Back in the mid-80s, The Primitives combined the fuzz guitars of The Jesus and Mary Chain with the pop sensibilities of Blondie and a nod to cult heroes The Velvet Underground. They swiftly rose from being a popular Indie guitar outfit to charting worldwide with 'Crash', kickstarting a craze in bands fronted by blonde female singers (Transvision Vamp, The Darling Buds et al). Co-produced by Ian Broudie, Galore was The Primitives' third and last album for RCA. Issued in 1991, the album was criminally ignored by a pop scene enamoured with Madchester and Grunge and has been long unavailable. Despite its musical strength, fashions had moved on and The Prims disbanded in 1992.

This 2-CD set boasts all of the band's B-sides and other rare tracks from 1991/1992, including the singles 'You Are The Way', 'Lead Me Astray' and 'Earth Thing' from the Spells EP. Also included is the 'Re-Ravishing Mix' of 'You Are The Way', previously available only on a promotional 12". Compiled with the help of guitarist PJ Court, this 2-CD compilation boasts re-mastered music as well as a splendid, annotated booklet boasting rare photos and personal memories from the band.
