The roots of Chrysalis stretch back to a tiny flat in West London in 1967, when former university social secretaries, Chris Wright and Terry Ellis, linked their flair for managing and booking bands to form the Ellis Wright Agency. After trying to release their bands' records via other companies, they decided to start their own label.

In 1968, they signed a licensing deal with Island Records with the proviso that if their acts achieved an agreed number of hits, they would be awarded a label of their own. Within a year, this tally was reached and Chrysalis Records was born.

Over the years, Chrysalis went through various ownership changes. In 1985, Chris Wright bought out Terry Ellis and later sold the label to EMI in 1991. EMI was then acquired by Universal Music Group in 2012 before selling the Parlophone Label Group (including Chrysalis) to Warner Music Group in 2013.

The Selecter is a 2 Tone ska group that was formed in 1979 in Coventry, England. After releasing their second album, the original band split up in 1981.
In 1991, Neol Davies and Pauline Black reformed The Selecter with new musicians and toured with their classic repertoire. Two years later, Neol Davis left, leaving Pauline Black to lead The Selecter through the 90's up to 2004 with the help of original Producer Roger Lomas.
In 2010, Davies started a new band and began performing as 'Neol Davies aka The Selecter', while Pauline Black reunited with Arthur "Gaps" Hendrickson to record a new Selecter album titled 'Made In Britain' and resumed touring. They continue to perform together to this day.

The Selecter were one of the key bands of the ska revival in the late 70’s and one of the few racially and sexually integrated bands on the scene. Vocalist Pauline Black wrote about sexism, racism, and social issues. Their debut release was the AA side of The Specials single ‘Gangsters’ in the summer of 1979, which only consisted of Neol Davies and John Bradbury (of The Specials) before quickly forming a full band by the end of the year. Releasing their follow up single ‘On My Radio’ which reached No. 6 in the UK charts. Their debut album Too Much Pressure was released in February 1980 and reached No. 5 in the UK charts. The album also included two further hit singles ‘Three Minute Hero’ and ‘Missing Words’.&nbsp;
