Description

On Hoarse, 16 Horsepower reveal themselves in their most radical and immediate form. The live album captures the intensity of the concerts in Denver and Paris and presents songs from *Low Estate* and *Sackcloth “n” Ashes* in versions that feel harder, wilder and more precise than their studio originals. Even the intro to “American Wheeze”, driven by David Eugene Edwards’ accordion, builds a tension that erupts with explosive force. The band operates like a perfectly tuned machine: heavy, yet never dull; delicate, yet always imbued with an inner drive. Cover versions such as “Bad Moon Risin’”, “Fire Spirit” or Joy Division’s “Day of the Lords” are transformed into a darkly glowing, almost ritualistic energy.  An essential document of the band’s extraordinary stage magic.
