Reissues of John Maus’ first three full lengths, previously long out of print for years and now available again on CD and heavyweight LP, following the sold out 6LP catalogue box set edition of 1000 released in early 2018. Love Is Real is the second album by John Maus originally released in 2007 on Upset the Rhythm. Like the debut work it's full of lo-fi synth pop with some dark gothic undertones, sometimes even reminding Scott Walker of recent years in the vocal department. Refreshingly the songs happen to also be catchy and even danceable, but more like dancing alone shattered in the night illuminated by the full moon or in an abandoned disco with flickering strobe lights than merrily in the sunshine with good friends.
