Following a string of releases on ECM Records, jazz pianist Yonathan Avishai is back on jazz&people, the label which discovered him in 2014. Celebrating a 10-year collaboration with his trio, Shapes and Sounds is the third album in this format. A longtime collaborator of trumpeter Avishai Cohen and bassist Omer Avital, Yonathan Avishai belongs in full to the impressive array of jazz musicians coming from Israel.

Deeply rooted in the tradition, Yonathan Avishai has found his own way to revive and shape the basics of jazz - subtle, always accessible, profound and joyful.

 Includes six originals, and two covers: ‘When You’re Smiling’, made famous by Louis Armstrong, and ‘La Mélancolie’ by French singer Léo Ferré.
